St Bede’s Festival Brings the Community Together

St Bede’s Catholic Primary School in Darlington was delighted to welcome families, friends and members of the local community to this year’s Bede’s Festival, which proved to be a tremendous success. The event was extremely well attended, with visitors enjoying a wide range of activities, entertainment and fundraising opportunities throughout the day. It was wonderful to see the school community come together and create such a positive and vibrant atmosphere.

St Bede’s Celebrates Successful School Book Swap

St Bede’s Catholic Primary School in Darlington has been celebrating the success of its recent school book swap event, which brought pupils together to share stories, promote sustainability, and enjoy reading in a new way. The initiative gave children the chance to bring in books they had already enjoyed and exchange them for new ones to take home. Year 2 pupils at St Bede’s in Darlington delivered a confident and memorable performance during a special visit to Hopetown, Darlington, celebrating the birthday of railway pioneer George Stephenson. Our LKS2 pupils have been busy in DT this week, developing their food preparation skills and having lots of fun along the way! They practised important techniques such as the claw grip and bridge hold to cut safely, explored a variety of textures, smells and flavours while tasting healthy foods, and even had a go at peeling.

Year 6 End of SATs Celebration

Our Year 6 pupils celebrated the end of their SATs in style with a well-deserved treat—chosen by the children themselves! The afternoon was filled with fun and laughter as the children enjoyed an exciting water fight and a thrilling slip and slide. Despite the chilly weather, spirits were incredibly high, and everyone embraced the moment with huge smiles and plenty of energy.

Celebrating Creativity and Caring for Our Planet

We are incredibly proud of our LKS2 pupils who recently took part in Darlington Library’s competition to design posters encouraging everyone to protect and care for our planet. The competition was inspired by the inspiring work of Sir David Attenborough, in celebration of his special 100th birthday year. A huge congratulations goes to Ada in Year 4, whose outstanding poster was selected as one of the winning entries across Darlington! Her fantastic design will now be displayed in schools across the area, helping to spread an important message about looking after our environment.

Reception Celebrate the Month of Mary at St Bede’s

On 1st May, our Reception class at St Bede’s marked the beginning of the Month of Mary with a beautiful and reflective Celebration of the Word. During this special time, the children learned about the importance of Mary and her role in saying “yes” to God. They took part in a thoughtful activity, creating colourful flowers as a symbol of thanks to Mary for her loving “yes” and for bringing the gift of Jesus into the world.
