Year 5 at St Bede’s Catholic Primary School in Darlington enjoyed an exciting second visit from the Mini Police this week — and the session was a real eye‑opener into the world of crime investigation and community safety.
The children learned about the specialist methods used by the police, discovering how different teams — including police dogs, IT units, and dispatcher call centres — work together to keep the public safe. They were fascinated to see how every role contributes to solving crimes and protecting communities, and it sparked lots of thoughtful questions and conversations.
After the workshop, pupils put their new knowledge into practice. Equipped with their PROTECT training, they headed out to collect litter and observe the local area, identifying any potential signs of crime or anti‑social behaviour. Their enthusiasm, teamwork, and sense of responsibility were fantastic to see.
A huge well done to Year 5 for the maturity and positivity you showed throughout the session — you represented St Bede’s brilliantly!
