St. Bede’s Key Stage 1 pupils enjoyed an unforgettable educational trip to Beamish Museum, perfectly complementing their history topic, Toys Through Time. This exciting visit gave our young learners the chance to step back in time and discover how toys—and childhood play—have changed throughout history.
The highlight of the day was a hands-on workshop, where pupils explored a fascinating collection of toys from different historical periods. They learned how materials and designs have evolved over the years, gaining a deeper understanding of the past in a fun and interactive way.
Beyond the workshop, the children toured Beamish Museum’s immersive exhibits, which brought their classroom learning to life. From historic homes to traditional shops, every corner of the museum offered a glimpse into life in bygone eras, helping pupils connect their studies to real-world experiences.
Teachers were delighted by the pupils’ enthusiasm, thoughtful questions, and excellent behaviour throughout the day. This visit not only enriched their historical knowledge but also sparked curiosity and a love for learning.
