Our Key Stage 1 classrooms were filled with excitement as St. Bede’s welcomed parents for a special Stay and Read session—a wonderful event dedicated to celebrating the joy of reading and writing together.

Families joined in a variety of fun, hands-on literacy activities designed to spark creativity and build confidence. From crafting colourful Sound Crowns and spotting Common Exception Words in books, to tackling Read and Roll challenges and interactive Letter-join word searches on iPads, there was something for everyone to enjoy. Children also loved creating imaginative characters using expanded noun phrases, bringing their ideas to life with flair and originality.

It was heartwarming to see parents and children side by side—sharing stories, laughing, and learning together. These moments not only strengthen literacy skills but also foster a lifelong love of reading.

A huge thank you to all the families who joined us and made this event such a success. At St. Bede’s, we believe that reading is the key to unlocking creativity and confidence—and events like this show just how powerful learning together can be.
