On 8th May 2026, the world will celebrate the 100th birthday of Sir David Attenborough, a true icon of nature, wildlife, and conservation. To mark this very special occasion, St Bede’s Darlington is delighted to be running a school‑wide creative competition for all our children.
Design a Birthday Card for Sir David
We are inviting pupils to design the front of a birthday card that we will send to Sir David Attenborough himself. This is a wonderful opportunity for children to celebrate his life’s work and show their appreciation through creativity, imagination, and a love for the natural world.
Who Can Enter?
All pupils are welcome to take part, from Nursery right through to Year 6.
Prizes
One winning entry will be selected from each phase:
- EYFS
- KS1
- Lower KS2
- Upper KS2
Each phase winner will:
- Receive a science‑themed prize
- Have their design featured on the official birthday card sent from their phase
Let’s Get Creative!
We encourage children to be inspired by nature — plants, animals, oceans, rainforests, or anything they admire about Sir David’s incredible work. This is a chance to celebrate curiosity, care for our planet, and creativity across the whole school.
We can’t wait to see the fantastic designs our pupils create as we come together to celebrate an extraordinary milestone for an extraordinary individual.
