Last week, we were delighted to welcome Stuie Ellerton, Director of SimFly Aviation Training, and his colleague
into school to deliver an exciting aviation‑themed careers session for our Year 5 and Year 6 pupils. Stuie was once a pupil at St Bede’s himself, which made his journey even more relatable and inspiring for the children.
Exploring the World of Aviation
Throughout the session, pupils were introduced to the fascinating world of aviation and the wider travel and tourism industry. Stuie explained the many possible career pathways available, from piloting and engineering to air‑traffic control, cabin crew, and beyond.
With STEM learning at the heart of SimFly’s approach, the session encouraged children to think about how science, technology, engineering and maths play an essential role in real aviation careers.
Hands-On Learning
The children had the chance to explore practical resources and take part in aviation‑themed role‑play scenarios. These hands‑on activities gave them an exciting glimpse into what different roles in the aviation industry might involve, making the workshop both memorable and highly motivating.
Inspiring Aspirations
The session not only broadened our pupils’ understanding of future opportunities but also left them feeling inspired, energised and confident about their own potential.
We are extremely grateful to Stuie and his team for delivering such a high‑quality experience free of charge, and for their passion and commitment to supporting young learners.
